She completed surgical residencies at The New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center and The Ferguson Clinic, Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has also been involved in laboratory (biochemistry, and cell and molecular biology) and clinical research. She completed post-doctoral research projects at Thomas Jefferson University and The Lahey Clinic. Dr. Kafka has been in practice in New York City since 1998. She is a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons. She is also a Member of The American Association for Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), The International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology, The International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (by which she is certified), and the American Medical Spa Association. She is a PCA Skin Care Certified Professional.
Dr. Kafka practiced surgery until 2011, shortly before which she began her transition to non-operative aesthetic and anti-aging medicine. This has allowed her to perfectly combine and balance science with art in her practice. It has also freed her from the demands of health insurance companies and allowed her to spend more time with patients. She very much enjoys working with patients to understand their goals and develop a plan to achieve them. She shares her patients’ pleasure in their outcomes. She is also glad to be in a field that involves long-term relationships and shared journeys.
Dr. Kafka’s interest in the uses of supplements and hormones for metabolic optimization began with work she did years ago, regarding the impacts of nutrition, lifestyle and environment on development of colorectal cancer. She has since undertaken study with A4M and the Metabolic Medical Institute. She has served on the advisory board of Integrated Genetic Solutions, with which she continues to collaborate. She has also been involved in the development of nutritional and supplement products, as a member of the scientific advisory board of Isagenix®.
In her practice, Dr. Kafka combines her experience with topical (microdermabrasion, chemical peels, cosmeceuticals), injectable (Botox®, Kybella® and fillers) and energy-based Aesthetic Medicine treatments, her expertise in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, and her lifelong interest in nutrition and its effects on health, body composition, aging and appearance to optimize health, youth and appearance from the inside out and outside in. A native New Yorker, she was born and raised in Manhattan, where she currently lives, and she has a second career as an actor and singer. As a performer, Dr. Kafka is particularly attuned to creating the most youthful, pleasing appearance, while maintaining natural expressivity. This has been vital in her services to many other performers and artists. Her deep connections to New York City, in all its aspects, helps her to understand and work with her diverse and busy clientele.
